The standard we target
The target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1, Level AA. That is the standard this site is built and reviewed against.
What that means in practice
- Every interactive control can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone.
- Keyboard focus is always visible.
- Text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 against its background.
- Nothing important is communicated by color alone.
- Pages work on a 375px wide screen without sideways scrolling, and at 200% zoom.
- Motion respects the reduced motion setting in your operating system.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives.
- Form fields have visible labels, not placeholder text standing in for a label.
Where this site currently falls short
Two issues are known. Some links and form inputs have tap targets smaller than the 44 pixel minimum, which makes them harder to hit accurately on a phone or with limited fine motor control. Keyboard focus indicators were missing or too faint in places and have recently been corrected, so the fix is in place but has not yet been re-tested across every page.
This section is meant to be honest rather than empty. Any barrier that is known and not yet fixed belongs here, with a plain description of what it affects.
