How much does this pest control job cost?
Published national sources price recurring general pest service by the visit: quarterly at $100 to $300 per visit and monthly at $40 to $75 per visit, with a recurring plan estimated at $300 to $900 (HomeGuide) per year. Quarterly suits moderate climates, monthly suits warm and humid regions. These are national estimates, not a PestChief quote.

How do monthly and quarterly plans compare?
The choice is really about climate and history, not about which plan is better. Every figure below is a national estimate from published sources, stated per visit, per year or as a one off, and none of them is a PestChief quote.
| Monthly | Quarterly | Bi-monthly | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typical price per visit | $40 to $75 | $100 to $300 | Not separately priced in published national sources |
| Typical annual cost | $300 to $900 (HomeGuide) per year on a recurring plan | $300 to $900 (HomeGuide) per year on a recurring plan | $300 to $900 (HomeGuide) per year on a recurring plan |
| Initial or setup fee | $150 to $300, one off | $150 to $300, one off | $150 to $300, one off |
| Visits per year | 12 | 4 | 6 |
| Free re-treatment between visits | Usually included | Usually included | Usually included |
| Best climate fit | Gulf South, Florida, Texas, desert Southwest | Northeast, Midwest, Pacific Northwest | Mid-Atlantic, coastal California, upper South |
| Best for | Heavy or recurring pressure | Prevention in moderate pressure | A middle option |
Published national sources give one annual range for recurring plans rather than a separate annual figure per frequency, which is why the annual row reads the same across all three columns. Where the plans genuinely differ is the price per visit and the number of visits, both shown above.
When is monthly service genuinely worth it?
Monthly earns its extra cost where pest pressure never switches off, or where something is already established and being held down rather than prevented. Five situations account for most of them.
- Year-round pest activity, as in Florida, the Gulf Coast, south Texas and the desert Southwest
- A history of cockroach or ant problems that returned between quarterly visits
- Homes backing onto woods, fields, water or heavy landscaping
- Scorpion pressure in the Southwest, where exterior pressure is continuous
- A property where a prior infestation is being held down rather than prevented
When is quarterly enough?
For most homes in the northern half of the country, quarterly service timed to the seasons is sufficient, because winter suppresses outdoor activity. The value of a quarterly plan is the timing: a spring visit before ant and wasp activity begins, a summer visit at peak pressure, a fall visit as rodents and overwintering insects move toward the structure, and a winter visit focused on the interior and entry points.
Most quarterly plans also include free re-treatment between visits if a covered pest appears, which is the feature that makes quarterly workable rather than thin. Without that clause, four visits a year leaves long gaps.
What drives the price of a recurring plan?
Two homes on the same street can be quoted differently for the same plan. Five things explain most of the difference.
- The pest pressure where you live, which sets how many visits a plan needs
- The size of the home and the linear footage of foundation treated on the exterior
- Which pests the plan covers, since adding rodents or mosquitoes changes the scope
- Whether an initial or setup fee of $150 to $300 is charged on top of the ongoing rate
- Local labor rates, which run higher in metro areas than in rural ones, with labor alone estimated at $50 to $100 per hour
What is usually covered, and what is not?
General pest plans cover the common nuisance insects and little else. Anything requiring separate licensing, specialist equipment or construction work is quoted apart.
| Usually covered | Usually extra |
|---|---|
| Ants, cockroaches, spiders, silverfish, earwigs, crickets | Termites |
| Wasp nests on the structure, within limits | Bed bugs |
| Mice in some plans, often limited to bait stations | Wildlife removal and exclusion |
| Exterior perimeter treatment and de-webbing | Mosquito and tick programs |
| Free re-treatment between scheduled visits | Rodent exclusion and attic cleanup |
What do these figures not include?
The annual figures above cover scheduled general pest visits. These sit outside them.
- The initial or setup fee of $150 to $300 charged before the recurring rate begins
- Specialty work: termites, bed bugs, wildlife, mosquito and tick programs
- Rodent exclusion, estimated separately at $200 to $600 per job, plus attic sanitation and any repair work
- Treating an active infestation, which normally needs a dedicated program first, estimated at $300 to $550 (HomeAdvisor) per one time program
- Early cancellation fees, where the initial service was discounted
Where do these numbers come from?
Every figure on this page is a national estimate from published sources, given for planning only. Each one states its basis: per visit on a monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly recurring plan, per year on a recurring plan, or a one off setup fee. None of them is a PestChief quote, and PestChief neither sets prices nor performs pest control.
Your actual price comes from the independent local pest control company that inspects your home. It moves with local pest pressure, the size and construction of the property, which pests the plan covers and local labor rates. Only that company can quote you.
These are national estimates drawn from published industry sources, not PestChief quotes. Every figure states the basis it is measured on. The real price comes from the company that inspects your home.

What does this cost you? Nothing.
PestChief is free to the homeowner. The figures above are national estimates from published sources, not a PestChief quote. Only the independent local pest control company that inspects your home can price the work, and that one company contacts you directly.
What does this figure cover, and what does it not?
Covered: the treatment itself, as the published sources measure it, meaning labor, materials and the visits the program includes. A figure quoted per year covers a recurring plan. A figure quoted per visit covers one visit only. The basis is stated next to every number on this page.
Not covered: inspection fees that some companies charge separately, repairs to damage the pest has already done, exclusion work such as sealing or screening, and anything added for difficult access or a larger property. None of these figures is a quote. A quote comes only from the company that inspects your home.
Frequently asked questions
Is monthly pest control necessary?
Not for most homes in moderate climates, where quarterly service with free re-treatment is enough. Monthly is genuinely useful in warm, humid or desert regions with year round pressure and for homes with recurring problems.
Is quarterly pest control worth it?
For most homeowners, yes. It is estimated nationally at $100 to $300 per visit, with a recurring plan of any frequency at $300 to $900 (HomeGuide) per year. That compares well against $108 to $261 for a single reactive service call out (Angi), and quarterly visits are timed to seasonal pest activity with free re-treatment usually included.
Can I cancel a pest control plan?
Terms vary. Some plans are month to month, others have an annual commitment or an early cancellation fee, especially where the initial service was discounted. Ask for the cancellation terms in writing before signing.
Does a general pest plan cover termites?
Almost never. Termite protection is a separate licensed service with its own inspection, treatment and warranty. The same applies to bed bugs, wildlife and usually mosquito programs.
Will quarterly service handle an active infestation?
An active infestation usually needs a dedicated initial treatment and follow-ups first, estimated nationally at $300 to $550 (HomeAdvisor) per one time program. A quarterly plan is a maintenance program, best started once the current problem has been brought under control.
What happens if pests appear between visits?
Most recurring plans include free re-treatment for covered pests between scheduled visits. Confirm which pests that promise covers and whether there is any limit on how often you can call.
Are these plan prices a quote from PestChief?
No. Every figure on this page is a national estimate from published sources, given for planning. PestChief does not set prices and does not perform pest control. Only the independent local company that inspects your home can quote you.
