How Much Does Mosquito Control Cost?

National price ranges from published industry sources, with the basis each figure is measured on.

How much does this pest control job cost?

Mosquito control is estimated nationally at $75 to $350 per treatment, or $350 to $700 for a full season of six to eight treatments on a suburban yard. These are national estimates from published sources, stated per treatment or per season, and not a PestChief quote. Only the company you hire can price your yard.

Per treatment, per season of six to eight treatments, and per installation for a misting system. Each table row states which applies.

What does mosquito control cost by service type?

Mosquito pricing follows how often someone comes out, not how much product goes down. A single treatment before an event, a program through the season and an installed system are three different purchases. Every figure below is a national estimate from published sources, with the basis stated in the row, and none of them is a PestChief quote.

Mosquito control cost estimates by service type. Every row states its basis: per treatment, per season or per installation.
ServiceTypical cost and basisBest for
Barrier treatment$75 to $350 per treatmentAn event, a specific weekend, or one visit in a program
Full season$350 to $700 per seasonSix to eight treatments at 21 day intervals, April to September, on a suburban yard
Larvicide treatment of standing waterOften includedCatch basins, ponds, water features
Misting system install$1,200 to $3,600, one offSevere pressure, large outdoor living areas

Two things published national sources do not price, so no figure is shown for them here: the annual cost of refilling and servicing an installed misting system, and botanical or natural programs sold at a premium per visit. Ask the local company for both as separate line items.

What changes the price on my property?

Lot size and season length do most of the work. A Gulf South season can run twice as long as a northern one at the same price per treatment, which is why the annual total varies far more than the treatment price.

  • Lot size and how much vegetated resting habitat needs treating
  • Standing water features, ponds, ditches or a neglected pool nearby
  • Number of visits in the local season, which is far longer in the Gulf South than in the northern states
  • Whether larvicide treatment of catch basins or water features is included
  • Product preference, since botanical programs usually need more frequent visits

Is mosquito control worth the money?

It depends on how you use your yard and what the local pressure is. Barrier treatments reliably reduce biting pressure in the treated area; they do not eliminate mosquitoes, because mosquitoes fly in from neighboring properties and public land.

The free part of mosquito control is often the most effective part. CDC guidance for reducing mosquitoes around a home centers on emptying standing water weekly, and that work costs nothing. A professional program is most worthwhile when you have done that and still have pressure from resting habitat or surrounding land.

What do these figures not include?

A mosquito program price covers treating your property on the schedule agreed. The items below sit outside it.

  • Refills and ongoing service for an installed misting system, quoted separately by the installer
  • Draining, regrading or rebuilding a low spot, pond or neglected pool that holds water
  • Landscaping work to thin the shaded vegetation where adults rest
  • Treatment of neighboring land, public right of way or drainage the company does not control
  • Electrical and plumbing work to supply an installed misting system
  • Separate tick programs, estimated separately at $250 to $900 per season

Where do these numbers come from?

Every figure on this page is a national estimate from published sources, given for planning only. Each one states its basis: per barrier treatment, per season of six to eight treatments, or per installation for a misting system. None of them is a PestChief quote, and PestChief neither sets prices nor performs mosquito treatment.

Your actual price comes from the independent local pest control company that inspects your property. It moves with lot size, how much resting habitat has to be treated, how long your local season runs, whether larvicide work is included and local labor rates. Only that company can quote you.

These are national estimates drawn from published industry sources, not PestChief quotes. Every figure states the basis it is measured on. The real price comes from the company that inspects your home.

What does this cost you? Nothing.

PestChief is free to the homeowner. The figures above are national estimates from published sources, not a PestChief quote. Only the independent local pest control company that inspects your home can price the work, and that one company contacts you directly.

What does this figure cover, and what does it not?

Covered: the treatment itself, as the published sources measure it, meaning labor, materials and the visits the program includes. A figure quoted per year covers a recurring plan. A figure quoted per visit covers one visit only. The basis is stated next to every number on this page.

Not covered: inspection fees that some companies charge separately, repairs to damage the pest has already done, exclusion work such as sealing or screening, and anything added for difficult access or a larger property. None of these figures is a quote. A quote comes only from the company that inspects your home.

Frequently asked questions

How much does mosquito spraying cost per treatment?

Residential barrier treatments are estimated nationally at $75 to $350 per treatment. A single one-off treatment sits toward the upper end because there is no ongoing program spreading the setup cost. These are national estimates, not quotes.

How much is a season of mosquito control?

A season of six to eight treatments at 21 day intervals, April to September, is estimated nationally at $350 to $700 for a suburban yard. Seasons are longer in the Gulf South and Florida, which raises the annual total even at the same price per treatment.

Are misting systems worth it?

Mosquito misting systems suit large outdoor living areas with severe pressure, at $1,200 to $3,600 to install as a one off. Refills and annual service are quoted separately by the installer and are not covered by published national estimates. For most homeowners a barrier program plus water removal gives a better return.

Do natural mosquito treatments cost more?

Usually yes, and they often need more frequent applications because botanical products have a shorter residual. Published national sources do not price botanical programs separately, so ask the local company for the per treatment price and the visit frequency side by side.

Can I reduce mosquitoes without paying anything?

Yes, substantially. Emptying every container that holds water weekly, cleaning gutters, and fixing corrugated downspout extensions removes the breeding sites that produce most yard mosquitoes.

Does mosquito service cover ticks too?

Sometimes. Many companies sell a combined mosquito and tick program, since both involve treating shaded yard edges and ground cover. A standalone tick program is estimated nationally at $250 to $900 per season. Ask whether tick habitat treatment is included or priced separately.

Are these mosquito prices a quote from PestChief?

No. Every figure on this page is a national estimate from published sources, given for planning. PestChief does not set prices and does not perform mosquito treatment. Only the independent local company that inspects your property can quote you.

Which pest does this guide cover?

Cost tracks the pest, because the treatment, the number of visits and the licensing required all change with it.

How do you get a real price for your home?

It costs the homeowner nothing. Give your ZIP code and the pest you are seeing, and if an independent local pest control company covers that ZIP code and handles that pest, your request goes to that one company. Only that company can quote a price, once it has inspected your home.
